With Bulgarian origins, he was known as Marcel in the Resistance. He was the founder and organiser of the Maquis d’Ongrand, a guerrilla force of 130 men active on Segra pass, to the north of the commune;

In April and May 1944, he was at the origin of the parachute drops intended to supply his men with weapons.

He was arrested and shot in Grasse on the 16th of August 1944.
